Three-year-old girl dies of head injury

A three-year-old girl admitted to Auckland's Starship Hospital earlier this year with a severe head injury has died.

Seini Ikamanu, also called Jane, from Beach Haven on Auckland's North Shore, never recovered from an injury inflicted in March this year and had been in palliative care since, said police.

She died in Starship Hospital yesterday.

A 27-year-old man is before the courts charged with assault on a child.

Police have not ruled out further charges being laid.
