Three trees being cleared from road after slip at Waiwera

Council contractors are working to clear three large trees from Weranui Rd, near Waiwera Hot Pools, following an earlier slip.

Northern fire communications shift manager Jaron Phillips said Weranui Rd was closed by emergency services around 2pm, but one lane had since been reopened. Police and fire crews were directing traffic.

Heavy rain in the area caused the trees to fall onto the road, Phillips said.
