Police were following lines of enquiry on two other fires on State Highway 35.
One was on Saturday July 16 in Waihau Bay and the other was on August 12 in Te Kaha.
"We are very grateful to the local community who have provided valuable information so far, which has allowed us to progress these investigations.
"We will continue to work with the community to bring these matters to a satisfactory resolution.
"By apprehending these offenders, we hope to prevent any further damage to property in this beautiful part of the country."
Police urge anyone who may have seen or heard anything in relation to these suspicious fires to contact Whakatane Police on 07 308 5255.
