Finn Yeats and Alison Andrews-Paul provided the star turns for a 37-strong Wairarapa contingent at the opening day of the Wellington junior track and field championships at Newtown Park, Wellington.

They were both in record-breaking form, Yeats with his 11.48s in the boys 14 years 100m and Andrews-Paul with her 2m 18.60s in the girls 15 years 800m and 3m 22.97s in the 1km steeples. She also won her 200m event in 26.86s.

Other gold medal winners for Wairarapa over 200m were Samanath Duthie (girls 9 years in 31.95s) and Lauren Balsillie (girls 14 years in 26.60s)

? A small group of Wairarapa athletes contested a Wellington centre meet at Newtown Park last Saturday week with Simone Small, Dhruv Raman and Stevie Paine all tasting success.

Small won the senior women's 100m in 12.98s, Raman the men's 18yrs 100m in 12.44s and 200m in 24.91s and Paine the junior women's 800m in a slick 59.83s. Keelan Ward was third in the men's 18yrs 100m in 14.60s and second in the 200m in 29.00s.
