Three people have been taken to hospital with moderate injuries following a two car crash south of Palmerston North this morning.
Initial reports indicated four people were treated by ambulance staff at the scene of the serious crash on SH 57, north of Shannon this morning.
However, in the latest update police said only three needed to be taken to hospital.
The road remains closed following the crash, which happened shortly after 10:30am.
The stretch of highway is closed between the intersection of Foxton-Shannon Road and SH 57 and the intersection of SH 57 and SH 56, but police expected it would reopen by 2pm.
