Three people were injuried today when a tourist jetboat overturned on the Dart River in Central Otago.
The boat, carrying 18 passengers and a driver, was operated by Dart River Jet Safaris, owned by Ngai Tahu Tourism.
Ngai Tahu Tourism spokesman David Kennedy said emergency services were immediatelycalled to treat two passengers who injured their shoulders and one who injured a knee in the accident, which occurred near Glenorchy, north of Queenstown.
The company was taking the accident seriously and doing what it could to look after the passengers.
"We have also arranged for all the passengers, including those injured, to be transported to Queenstown for any further assessment and treatment that may be necessary."
He said the company was not sure at this stage what had caused the incident. It had notified Maritime New Zealand (MNZ).
MNZ said in a statement investigators would travel to the scene early tomorrow.
