Three people were flown to hospital by helicopter after a car crash in the South Island last night.
Emergency services were called to Lewis Pass Rd near Hanmer Springs about 9.30pm, where a car had rolled.
It had four occupants, three of whom needed medical treatment for serious injuries, afire spokesman said.
Nobody was trapped and as St John paramedics helped the injured people, fire crews assisted with that and cleared space for a temporary helicopter landing pad.
Two helicopters flew the injured trio to hospital.
