Three escape early morning Auckland house fire

Three people escaped a large house fire in central Auckland overnight.

Emergency services were called to the blaze in Yeats Way, Mt Roskill, just after 2am to find a two-storey home engulfed by fire.

A fire service spokesman said those inside the burning home were able to escape and flee to a neighbour's house.

At the height of the blaze 15 fire engines were needed to fight the fire.

The home had been significantly damaged, he said.

Fire crews were now dampening hot spots.
