Three men, aged 17, 20 and 22, now face a variety of charges, including assault with a weapon. They are due to appear in Christchurch District Court on Thursday.
"It appears that two groups of men have used weapons in the form of pot plants, a spade, a baseball bat and a pole that is thought to have been removed from a street sign," Detective Sergeant Chris Power said.
Police investigations are ongoing and they are appealing for witnesses.
"Police are keen to speak to a fourth man described as Maori/Polynesian, 17-18 years of age, thin build and estimated to be 185cm tall or taller," a police statement said.
"The Dallington neighbourhood [has] been working hard to minimise crime in the area and police are working with the community and the two groups to resolve the issues that led to this disagreement."
