A man who head-butted his former partner and threatened to kill her if she called the police has been jailed for nine months.
In the Nelson District Court, Judge David McKegg told Metua Aberahama, 30, he had previous convictions for domestic violence, and a jail sentence was "inescapable".
Defence lawyer Rob Somerville said Aberahama had ended the relationship and now had a new partner who supported him.
