An official from Mr Key's office would not comment on Max's jetsetting with his father, who sometimes takes his family on official visits. But the youngster has been clocking up
a serious balance of airpoints with a schedule that would make even seasoned travellers envious.
The 15-year-old - who is known to have argued with his father against raising the driving age - met Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone last weekend in Singapore, the country where he was born. He was introduced to the promoter during qualifying for the Singapore Grand Prix while on a family holiday there with his parents.
In June, Max went to South Africa to support the All Whites with the PM, the All Whites' patron, who paid for his son's trip out of his own pocket.
Late last year, Max accompanied his mum, dad and sister to New York.
There they watched his father on The Letterman Show and had a tour of his dad's old stomping ground, Wall St.
The family also made a trip to China last year on a government visit. While there, the Keys visited the Great Wall, Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City.
Back home, Max and his father went fishing with Gone Fishin' host Graeme Sinclair. The younger Key showed his dad up by catching three trout to his none.
Saying Max's gloating had become unbearable, Mr Key got his own back by extracting payment from his son for the fishing licence.
