Masterton sports shop owner Quentin Henderson has come to the rescue of the Carterton Tennis Club, donating a replacement net for the community court vandals attacked over the holiday break.
The Wairarapa Times-Age last month outlined the story about almost three metres of nylon net on the club-run public courtthat had been sliced and stolen sometime over the Christmas New Year break.
Carterton Deputy Mayor John Booth had put out a call for "a community-minded person" to donate a net to the club, which was pivotal in introducing the game to children in the town and a valuable asset has been returned to the town.
Mr Henderson decided to help out and donated the net, worth hundreds of dollars, which has been gratefully accepted by club members and Mr Booth on behalf of the Carterton community.
"The donation of a net by Quentin is very much appreciated. It's a real act of support for the community and our town," Mr Booth said.
