Telco raises alarm on scam callers

Spark has advised that internet scammers claiming to be calling from the company are now using New Zealand phone numbers to contact potential victims.

A spokeswoman from Spark said people who suspected they had been called by a scammer should end the call immediately and call Spark's scam helpline.

She said Spark would never ring customers out of the blue and ask them to view their computer remotely, to provide banking or credit card details, or to log on to their online banking.

Anyone receiving such a call should contact Spark on 123.
