Teen's leg broken after run over by tractor

A 13-year-old was airlifted to Waikato Hospital today after breaking his leg in a tractor accident. The accident happened about 10.50am on a farm on State Highway 1, near Arapuni, 37km east of Te Awamutu, a Westpac Waikato Air Ambulance spokesman said.

The boy from Tauranga had attempted to jump onto a moving tractor when he slipped and fell under the rear wheel.

The three-ton vehicle rolled over his right leg, severely fracturing it.

He was flown to Waikato Hospital for treatment.
