Teens get in trouble over joyride video

Filming themselves driving at over 200kmh in a stolen BMW landed four Christchurch teenagers in trouble.

Police were called after four youths were seen wandering around Timaru with baseball bats last night.

Police said they accompanied the youths back to the motel they had booked into where it soon became clear the BMW the four were travelling in had been unlawfully taken from Christchurch.

A video camera appeared to show a 15-year-old driving while the speedo was sitting on 210kmh and a 16-year-old driving at 160kmh at another stage of the journey.

The four now face various offences.
