Two teenagers arrested in Whangarei were to appear in court in Auckland today after a woman was allegedly subjected to the "ultimate nightmare" of a home invasion, police said.
Police arrested the Auckland teens, aged 15 and 16, at a Whangarei motel on Saturday after a 19-year-old woman alone in her Papatoetoe home was attacked at 9.30am on Thursday.
The intruders allegedly took liquor and stole the victim's car.
Detective Sergeant Gerry Whitley, of Otahuhu police, said the woman was not hurt but experienced "the ultimate nightmare" of a home invasion.
Mr Whitley said police inquiries led to Whangarei where two youths were arrested.
Both appeared in Whangarei District Court on Saturday charged with aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary, kidnapping and unlawfully taking a car.
They entered no plea and were remanded in custody to appear in Manukau Youth Court today.
