Teenager killed in road accident named

Police have released the details of the teenager killed in Palmerston North. He was Christopher Johnson.

The 16-year-old was killed instantly when the vehicle in which he was a rear-passenger, left the road, hit a fence and landed in a drain at around 2.30 yesterday afternoon.

Inspector Paul Jermy says two vehicles were travelling at speed on a straight piece of road on Flygers Line, when it appears they both lost control and swerved at speed to avoid hitting a cyclist.

Police would like to hear from any witnesses who may have seen a white Honda hatchback and a silver Honda hatchback in the area at the time.
