Teen killed in single-vehicle crash in Maungati, Canterbury

An 18-year-old from the UK has been named as the victim of a fatal crash in Maungati.

Jack Roberts, a UK citizen who lived locally, died following a single-vehicle crash on Pareora River Rd, in Canterbury on Sunday morning.

A second person was hospitalised after the car plunged down a bank around 2.20am.

Roberts was the driver of the vehicle.

Police extend their sympathies to his family and friends.

The Serious Crash Unit is continuing to investigate the cause of the incident.
