A teenager allegedly stole two bags worth $200 and cash during a robbery in an affluent Auckland suburb.
An 18-year-old woman will appear in the Auckland District Court after being charged with aggravated robbery.
The woman allegedly entered a Newmarket shop carrying a knife. Police said she demanded theperson behind the till give them cash and also took two bags from the store.
She left the victim uninjured and fled the shop before travelling across Auckland in a taxi.
Detective Senior Sergeant Rebecca Kirk of Auckland City Crime Squad said a police camera operator became aware of the incident and was able to track the alleged offender’s movements.
“Our camera operator spotted her getting into a taxi further up the street,” Kirk said.

“They then guided police units to the taxi’s location based on the approximate direction of travel and they located it on Market Rd.”
Officers followed the taxi before more units helped to pull the car over in a safe location.
