Team Solway Park is champing at the bit for the start of the Trust House Cycle Classic in Wellington on Wednesday. Manager Matt Harvey said yesterday all five riders were fit and well and ready to show their second placing in last year team's event was no fluke. Locals Scott Lyttle andEdwin Crossling came through their final dress rehearsal in the two-day tour of Martinborough over the weekend with flying colours. Lyttle followed a third placing at the national road championships by finishing second and Crossling third. And the three Australians, Richie Porte, Tim Walker and Daniel Furmston, have been in good form too, especially Porte who was fourth in the Australian road championships and ninth in the Down Under tour. "We are ready to go, we can't wait to get started,"Harvey said. "We understand how tough it will be but we won't fail through any lack of trying, that's for sure." With four of the tour's stages being held in the Wairarapa from Thursday through until Saturday morning, Harvey said the likes of Lyttle and Crossling had the advantage of knowing the terrain well and were keen to take advantage of that situation.Friday's stage which covers a gruelling 185km from Masterton to the top of Admiral's Hill is being targeted by Team Solway as perhaps their best chance of stealing a break - both literally and figuratively - on their opposition. "That's the tough stage with a lot of climbing and that should suit us better than most," Harvey said. "We need to make a big impact there and I'm confident we will."
