The death of a man who died on a Te Awamutu footpath last night is being treated as a homicide.
The man, understood to be a local, died after an incident about 6.45pm on Sunday night outside a North St property.
Police are continuing the investigation into his death andforensic teams have been at the scene today. Police are likely to remain there for the next few days.
A post-mortem examination will be carried out in Auckland tomorrow, which will help to determine how he died.
Last night a section of North St, between Alexandra and Leith streets, was cordoned off.
