Residents of a quiet Tauranga street were evacuated after army bomb disposal experts were called in to deal with reports of a suspicious package.
Police said the item has now been cleared and there was no cause for concern.
Emergency services received a report about 11.50am Saturday from someonewho found what they believed to be a suspicious package on a residential road in Matua.
Police said they evacuated residents around Rewarewa Place as a precaution and put a cordon in place.
