Police have named the man killed in a car crash north of Taupo last night.

He was 60-year-old Ivor Martin Plumstead, from Taupo, who died at the scene 20km northeast of the town.

The car versus 4WD crash happened on Broadlands Rd, near the intersection with Whites Rd, at about 9.30pm.

Two other people suffered serious injuries and the serious crash unit is investigating.
