Save With a 6000 strong crowd and great weather, yesterday's Tauherenikau Summer Festival race meeting went off without a hitch.
While families enjoyed picnics and serious punters studied the form, the racing provided some tight finishes.
The Wairarapa Cup was won narrowly by Titch, which will now probably tackle the Auckland
Cup next month.
The $45,000 Tui Breweries Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes was won by Hamilton visitor Scarlett Lady in more comfortable fashion.
Wairarapa Racing Club entertainment convener Jinni Thurston said the day was a success. "It was a pretty good crowd and a really nice day," she said.
