It is the first snow of the year, and it is early.
Snow fell on the Tararua Ranges on Monday night, and with temperatures staying low the snow was a visual treat for Masterton residents on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Last year the Times-Age was photographing the hills in snow -in July.
Today's temperature is expected to reach 15C and the same again for Friday.
By Sunday, things will be warmer, with temperatures expected to reach 21C.
