Tamaki becomes a Bishop today

Destiny Church followers are this morning preparing themselves for what is being seen as the event of the year on the church's calendar.

Destiny founder Brian Tamaki is to become a bishop today.

His ordination will take place in Auckland in front of Maori Leaders, church representatives and followers.

He was accorded his title in February by ministers and pastors of Destiny's 21 churches.

The ceremony coincides with the Church's seventh birthday and tickets for the three thousand seat venue have sold out.

Delayed coverage of the ordination will be broadcast on Destiny Church's website.
