Switched on Gardener worker pleads guilty

A man who worked for the Wellington branch of Switched on Gardener has pleaded guilty to charges of supplying undercover police equipment for cannabis cultivation.

Bo Nilsson, 42, worked as a retail assistant for the Ngaio branch of Switched on Gardener and repeatedly sold material to undercover police throughout 2009, knowing they would be used for the cultivation of cannabis, police told Wellington District Court today.

He also gave undercover police advice about how to cultivate cannabis.

Nilsson also pleaded guilty to a charge of cultivating cannabis after police found 19 plants growing in his shed.

Switched on Gardener stores across the country were targeted in police's Operation Lime, in which more than 250 people were arrested on more than 750 charges, in April, mostly related to the cultivation of cannabis and connections to large-scale cannabis-growing enterprises.

Nilsson will be sentenced in August.
