An man, believed to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, who drove dangerously through Wellington this morning, damaged several cars and may have broken a pedestrian's leg.
The 25-year-old man was linked to earlier reports of burnouts on motorcycles near the capital's railway station.
Police were first calledto reports of a car driving dangerously on Bunny St around 11am.
The driver of the vehicle hit a pedestrian who then had to be taken to Wellington Hospital with a suspected broken leg, police said.
Soon after, the driver was then seen driving erratically up Molesworth St, where the truck mounted the kerb and hit several cars.
Police arrived on scene and arrested the driver who was trying to leave the area.
The man, a 25-year-old from Whakatane, would face a number of driving charges tomorrow at the Wellington District Court.
The driver of the vehicle was a member of the group that were arrested earlier in the morning.
Around 7am this morning police received reports of patched gang members doing 'burnouts' on Bunny Street outside the Railway Station on motorcycles.
Riders on the motorcycles left the area immediately after police reached the scene.
"One vehicle, a car, belonging to the gang was pulled over by Police and four male occupants of the car were arrested.
"Three of the men were arrested for having outstanding warrants and the driver may face more charges. Police also secured an offensive weapon when the vehicle was searched," police said.
Three of the men appeared in Wellington District Court today.
