Surgery after shooting

A man is in surgery in Hastings Hospital after being shot at a petrol station in Wairoa.

The 48-year-old was shot after he was approached by a man while re-fuelling his car at 6.30pm last night.

Sergeant Aubrey Ormond from Wairoa said the man was shot at and hit twice before the assailant ran off.

Police were still hunting for the gunman last night.
