Surf club copper theft

About $3000 of copper spouting has been stolen from the Mangawhai Surf Club.

Clubhouse director Gordon Finlayson said the 20m to 30m of spouting was taken from the two-storey building and a gear shed in Wintle Rd, Mangawhai Heads.

Club members out surfing noticed the theft on Friday night.

It was reported to the police, who believe the copper will have been melted down and sold by now.
