Sunny days helped Eketahuna Camping Ground enjoy a great December with more than 400 visitors during the month.
Managers Loreen and Kerry Cunningham booked in 176 users to powered sites, 101 to cabins and 127 to unpowered sites, building on 188 bookings in November, also regarded as an especially busymonth.
The Christmas month was busy in other regards as the camping grounds toilet block was gutted and new open plan toilets and showers installed.
Helping visitors to enjoy their stay was the liming of the nearby cliff walk, which has also had fencing repairs.
The Cunninghams make a point of telling camping ground visitors about the cliff walk with most taking advantage of it to walk into the Eketahuna township. The walk is elevated and provides a view of farmland and the river below.
November figures held up well despite high winds and heavy rains that battered Tararua district.
A medieval group held a weekend festival at the camping ground bringing with them a range of tents and costumes along with activities for participants.
This led to further enquiries from other groups interested in booking into the camping ground.
