Student faces charge over campus knifing

A student has been arrested and charged with attempted murder after a fellow student was slashed on the arm and abdomen in an attack at Victoria University's Kelburn campus yesterday morning.

The 19-year-old man will appear in Wellington District Court today.

Police said the 18-year-old male victim and the alleged offender knew each other. The victim was treated at hospital for injuries to his arm and abdomen and was expected to be discharged last night.

A small knife was recovered at the scene.
