A strong 4.6 earthquake has struck tonight 40km south of Seddon.
The quake hit at 7.23pm at a depth of 34km.
GeoNet reports the quake was felt by nearly 200 people throughout the top of the South Island and central North Island.
It follows a strong 5 magnitude earthquake which
struck the Seddon area last night.
