Four Hamilton women, two of them strippers, were arrested on Friday night and charged with possession of pseudoephedrine.
Two of the women, who gave their occupations as strippers, were booked to perform in Oamaru.
Police Detective Sergeant Mike Ryder said it was alleged the women had about 40 pseudoephedrine-based products between them.
Pseudoephedrine
is an ingredient in many medicines and can be refined into illegal drugs such as methamphetamine or speed.
Two women were also charged with possession of utensils.
They appeared in the Oamaru District Court on Saturday and were remanded without plea to appear in the Hamilton District Court today.
