Storm warning for Hawkes Bay

A severe weather warning, predicting damaging westerly gales for the Wairarapa and central Hawkes Bay, was issued last night.

Westerly gales of the predicted strength - gusts up to 120km/h could damage trees, powerlines and insecure buildings, and make driving hazardous.

The strongest winds were likely in the Tararua District and Central Hawkes Bay during Sunday morning and afternoon, The worst winds would be between about Hastings and Eketahuna.
