An innocent game of kiss cam has gone horribly wrong at an NBA game when the camera focused on a couple that turned out to be a mother and her son.

Fans began to cheer for the bearded man and a lady to his right before the pair realised they were on the big screen.

Instead of planting a kiss, the son quickly shakes his head in disgust, pointing at the woman next him before shouting "She's my mum!"

His mum finally glances up at the kiss cam screen, turning her face from delight to horror.

This toe-curling moment provided the kiss of death for the Milwaukee Bucks who lost to the Toronto Raptors 92-89 ending their title hopes.

Unfortunately, it wasn't even the only cringe moment kiss cam delivered during the game when the Bucks' mascot got a little too excited when a spectator in Toronto colours refused a smooch with a female spectator sitting next to him.

Fans took to social media to respond to the awkward mother and son incident with one saying: "Bucks put a mother and son on the kiss cam. It's Wisconsin so a natural mistake".

"The kiss cam needs to go, for so many reasons. It's worse than the wave," another said.

It's not the first time kiss cam has captured awkward moments when just last month a man was rejected by his girlfriend on the big screen. Oops!
