Stolen urn returned to family

A stolen urn containing the ashes of a 17-year-old girl is to be returned to the family today after being left at the Whangarei police station.

The urn was taken from a house on the Whangarei Heads during a weekend burglary.

Police said the owners of the house didn't know anything had been taken until they heard their neighbours had also been targeted.

The urn was to be examined forensically before being returned to the family.
