Stolen cars abandoned after Botany jewellery store robbery, police enquiries ongoing

An East Auckland jewellery store was targeted by robbers earlier today.

Police said seven people entered a jewellery store in Botany town centre around 4.20pm.

Police did not name the specific jewellery store targeted, but social media posts have suggested it is a Michael Hill store.

Inspector Danny Meade of Auckland police said the group used a variety of weapons to “smash the glass cabinets and take a quantity of jewellery”.

“They left in two stolen vehicles, which were found abandoned a short distance away.”

Police said enquiries are ongoing and that they are speaking to a number of people of interest.
