Still no trace of fisherman lost at sea

Authorities searching for fisherman Nick Stubbs were yesterday still unable to find any trace of him.

The 22-year-old failed to return home from a fishing trip on Tuesday night in calm weather off Martins Bay, near Warkworth, north of Auckland.

The body of his 37-year-old fishing companion, Stewart Atutahi, was recovered on Wednesday afternoon.

Meanwhile, the 57-year-old man from Mahia, near Gisborne, who died when his boat flipped on Thursday, has been named as Malcolm Blake.

Mr Blake, a businessman, was the skipper of the 3.6m aluminium boat.

A 16-year-old boy, his 48-year-old father and 40-year-old mother were also on the boat - and were thought to be related to Mr Blake.

Mr Blake died at the scene, while the boy's father was airlifted to Hawkes Bay Regional Hospital with injuries.

In the Bay of Plenty, the body of 5-year-old Jack Dixon - who was swept off rocks at Mt Maunganui on October 1 - is still missing.

And on the southern side of the Manukau Heads near Auckland, a man needed to be rescued from the water's edge yesterday after hurting his leg.

The man was unable to swim back to his boat with a companion. The police Eagle and Westpac rescue helicopters flew to help and the man was winched to safety.
