State Highway 3 north of Bulls has reopened after the trailer of a truck carrying rubbish caught fire.
Police and Fire and Emergency NZ were notified of the fire near Brightwell Rd on SH3 about 1.15pm on Monday.
Fire and Emergency Central shift manager Murray Dunbar said a 12m trailercontaining rubbish had caught fire.
“The truck is not involved.”
Traffic was diverted via SH1 for several hours. Police said about 4pm the highway had reopened but there would be delays for motorists while congestion cleared.
