One dead after crash between car and truck closes SH3 near Te Awamutu

One person has died in a serious crash near Te Awamutu that closed a section of State Highway 3.

Police said the truck and car collision was reported just after 2.30pm yesterday.

The highway near Kihikihi was closed for several hours before the NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi reported it open at around 7.50pm.

Hato Hone St John said a patient in a moderate condition was treated at the scene.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand said two crews from Te Awamutu and two from Hamilton responded.
