Motorists are being told to expect significant delays on State Highway 1 in Waikato after a crash involving a truck and a car.

Police said in a statement that drivers travelling north towards Cambridge on SH1 can expect traffic and “significant delays”.

The crash, involving a truck and a car, was reported to police after 11.10am.

“Motorists are advised to delay any unnecessary travel and seek alternative routes due to a large build-up of traffic in the area,” the statement said.

No injuries have been reported.

A NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) social media alert said the crash was blocking northbound lanes on SH1 near Hickey Rd in the Karāpiro area between Piarere and Cambridge.

“Delay your journey or expect delays until vehicle recovery can be completed,” the alert said.
