With the $24 million Lotto struck over the weekend, the Invercargill winner will probably follow Trevor's tyre tracks and buy a new car - or two. So Liz Dobson suggests the winner checks out what the celebrities drive to get some inspiration.

Actress Reese Witherspoon drives her newborn son around California in a massive GMC Yukon hybrid. And while the SUV's gas mileage is not exactly at Prius levels, it sports a monster V8 engine, all the better for out-running the paparazzi, or better still, running over the pesky photogs!

Justin Bieber may be just 18 but he has a fleet of fast, and vinyl wrapped, cars parked in his LA garage, including a matte-black Ferrari F430, a 997 Porsche turbo, a flat-black Range Rover, a chrome-wrapped new Fisker Karma, a flat-black Smart Fortwo car, and a Cadillac CTS-V aka the Batmobile. Though, as the Biebster is often pulled over by LA cops as he tries to speed away from the posse of paparazzi following him, Driven suggests he gets his mum to drive him around town.

Reality star Lauren Conrad proves that selling your soul for TV ratings pays as she drives around Laguna Beach in an incredible Audi R8 supercar.

While the Jonas Brothers' music appeals to the tween girl set, the car Nick Jonas drives comes straight out of a ZZ Top video. As soon as he turned 16, the Disney-produced guitar player and vocalist was spotted cruising his California neighbourhood in a shiny black 1968 Ford Mustang Cobra with a white racing stripe.

Twilight star Kristen Stewart's favoured LA wheels is a Mini Cooper, but she learned the hard way that it's not the best vehicle to own when conducting an affair with her married Snow White and the Huntsman director, Rupert Sanders. The paparazzi spotted the Mini near an LA hiking trail and snapped Stewart and Sanders in a passionate embrace nearby.

Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea is one of a number of celebs who have embraced the Tesla Roadster pure electric sports car. Based on the super-sporty Lotus Elise, it reaches 100km/h in 3.9 seconds and Flea says it made his Porsche feel "like a golf cart".

The Bugatti Veyron certainly has the X Factor for Brit judge Simon Cowell who paid more than US$1.7 million for the ultimate sports car. With a top speed of more than 400km/h, the Veyron holds the title of the fastest (and most expensive) street-legal car on the road today. Cowell bought the Bugatti within a few days of picking up a US$434,000 Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead coupe.

Footballer David Beckham has been spotted driving around Los Angeles in a sleek, blacked-out Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead coupe. Not just happy with that, he has a black, US$400,000 customised Porsche 911 cabriolet turbo, a jacked-up Jeep Wrangler, a Ferrari F430 and a V10 Lamborghini Gallardo. His wife, Posh Spice, thinks white is the new black and drives an ivory Porsche 911 cabriolet.

American fashion icon Ralph Lauren's car collection has everything from the ultraclassic (Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing coupe) to the iconic (Porsche 550 Spyder) but he's proven that making polo shirts pays off as he has a rare 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO. Only 39 of these Italian beauties were produced between 1962 and 1964, and they are widely considered to be one of Enzo Ferrari's greatest achievements - if not the greatest. They're priced accordingly: 250 GTOs have sold at auctions from US$2 million to more than US$15 million.

Multitasker Pharrel Williams - one-half of the producing duo the Neptunes, front man for the band N.E.R.D and co-creator of the fashion lines Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream - is known for his distinct personal style at least as much as for his musical prowess, and said style extends to his rides. Not only does he have a US$455,000 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren with a supercharged 5.5L V8 engine parked in his drive, he also counts a US$1 million, carbon-fibre, Formula 1-inspired Ferrari Enzo (top speed: 355km/h) for his daily errands around LA.
