Featherston Muay Thai Club are determined to make the seventh Rumble in the 'Rapa tournament the best yet and early planning would suggest they are well on the way to doing just that.
A packed house at the usual venue, the Anzac Hall in Featherston, on September 7 seemsassured and with as many as 15 bouts on the card it should be highly entertaining.
Organiser Kelly Davis said all categories would be involved in the event - female, male and junior - but what was to be labelled the feature match had still to be confirmed.
Right now the odds would favour either a tag team fight involving experienced campaigners, Kirk Davis and Terry Cremen, up against outside opposition or a New Zealand title fight for Davis, who is just back into the swing of things after a year's break and is already looking in good shape.
Cremen, has been training and fighting on a relatively regular basis over the past 12 months and is also promising to put on a decent show at the Featherston tourney.
His regular weight is 64kg but he has been competing above his weight in the 66.6kg grade of late and still giving a strong account of himself. Featherston's Ramona Sargent will take on a more seasoned fighter in Su Lin Leong from the JAI club in Wellington and while this will be a testing assignment for Sargent there will be no shortage of endeavour on her part. Sargent's "never say die" attitude always makes her a crowd favourite and nothing will change here.
Other locals working towards making an appearance are Featherston trio Tyrone Pitt, Paris Mason and Hamien Remington and the Masterton Muay Thai club's Cody Tumuri, Steven Prime and Frances Governor-Wiremu.
