Stabbing accused named

A 25-year-old man who allegedly stabbed his brother in a fight, has had his name suppression order lifted.

Ricky Kirkland has appeared in the Palmerston North District Court facing two charges.

He is accused of stabbing his 22-year-old brother in the stomach in May.

The victim received life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to Palmerston North Hospital for treatment.

No application for bail has been made and Kirkland was remanded in custody until the end of August.
