Declining membership is a problem facing many Wairarapa sporting organisations.
That's the message given Sport Wellington Wairarapa in discussions held with sports leaders here over the past 18 months.
According to their community sport adviser, Mark Curr, they are going to tackle this issue head-on.
Workshops entitled RejuvenateYour Club - How Wairarapa Sports Clubs Can Grow will be held at Sports House in Masterton next Monday, and the Greytown Library in Greytown on Tuesday, June 25.
Three main questions will be discussed: What do successful sports clubs do that others don't, why are some clubs always strong while others seem to struggle, and how can your club quickly build a bright future?
Curr is convinced those clubs that take the time to send representatives to these workshops, for which there will be no charge, will leave with a range of ideas that will rejuvenate their approach to the running of their clubs.
"We have gone out and stood in the field and surveyed the motivations of community sportspeople in Wairarapa and we have a set of very interesting, very local findings from this work," Curr said.
