Daniel Thomas, of Hamilton, has won his second NZ Sprintcar Championship.
Winning a New Zealand sprintcar championship is never easy.
Winning it twice, hundreds of kilometres from home, on a single race night, is rarer still, but Daniel Thomas, of Hamilton, has done it.
Speaking on Waikato’s All Sport Breakfast after last weekend’s win, Thomas reflected on his South Island campaign.
For Thomas, who got into the sport as a teenager driving mini-stocks, his second sprintcar championship victory came through restraint, technical understanding and a team prepared to trust experience over temptation.
And next season, the New Zealand title returns to Baypark, the team’s favourite circuit.
“We’ve got a very good handle on that place,” McIndoe said.
