"We want to get people together to talk and move the organisation forward if we can," he said.
Due to the rescheduling of the meeting, Masterton Mayor Lyn Patterson said she could no longer go, as the Sportsperson of the Year Awards in Wellington were on the same night.
Mrs Patterson said it was unfortunate she couldn't attend "because it's a community issue", but she would follow up on the meeting and continue to advocate.
"There's definitely community support to get [the centre] back up and running."
SPCA life member and former centre manager Val Ball said the meeting would be positive.
"We must be looking forward, and where to from here."
