"We have investigated the option to partner with Wellington ... and will be going back to the membership and looking at implementing the partnership in the new year."
He said a meeting with the membership was anticipated for the near future.
"Funds have improved a little bit and we have sufficient money to look at implementing the inspectorate solution."
An animal welfare inspector would be the organisation's first priority, but whether the Ngaumutawa Rd centre would reopen remained uncertain.
"What we will hopefully be able to do is leverage into the national fundraising team through Wellington."
But this idea was in "its early stages", Mr Wilson said.
"Thank you to all the local people who have helped us raise the money and to the efforts of the SPCA Op Shop.
"We certainly appreciate the support."
