Mark Sowry took line honours and Mark Langlands clocked the fastest time when the Masterton Cycling Club held a handicap race over two laps of the Francis Line-Bristol Road circuit on Tuesday night.
With 57 riders presenting themselves to the starter, competition was keen with Sowry being first over the finish line from Chris Bunny and Kirsten Goodin. The latter was also third fastest senior woman, behind Leslie Mouat and Donna Burkhart, while Sabella Thurston was the best of the junior women.
The battle for fastest time saw Langlands stave off Jack Sowry and Andrew Linton.

New riders who set off first and were untimed were Matt Gillan, Nesta Mele, Emily Luytons and Millie Robinson.Next Tuesday's event will be another handicap road race from Norfolk Rd to Mt Holdsworth and return. Start time at the Waingawa Estate is 6pm.
